December has arrived. It's been a month now since the 'incident' in Ultra Space that almost led to Sun and Lillie's deaths, but overall Ultra Wormhole activity seems to have died down for the time being. The people of Alola are happy and prosperous under the protection of 'Team Reskull', but in the two years since Team Skull's disbandment, those who refused to watch their team die have had the chance to... regroup. Covertly, a Rebellion has developed to take back the Alola Region in the name of Team Skull...

Meanwhile, in the shadows, Team Plasma reorganizes, gaining strength under corrupt Sages and officers and led by Ghetsis. The team preaches a new direction, but the same motives added to a more "direct" and violent approach. It searches for objects it's lost and powerful members who've fled; all the while planning a destructive and unstoppable endgame, eventually crossing paths with Riley. The new trainer sees Team Plasma's vile actions and builds up a hatred for it, becoming determined to stop them whenever they meet while continuing THE JOURNEY OF A CHAMPION.
