"Everything you've known, and everything you've ever thought you've known - it's all about to change. Drastic changes are coming, my sweet child, and you must be prepared for them. You must accept them with an open mind and open heart, no matter how gloomy things may seem." The hand left her cheek, and suddenly Lorelei's shoulders were grasped in a gentle but strong grip. "Whatever happens, don't give up on him. He needs you; they all do. Promise me you'll hold on." Lorelei nodded instinctively, blissfully unaware that the harmless gesture would seal her fate indefinitely. Who are you talking about? What changes? She wanted to scream out, but her tongue remained heavy as lead in her mouth. The dread that coursed through her entire being at the woman's foreboding was unlike any she had ever felt. She'd never had a dream like this before. The woman's watery eyes shone with a gratitude that Lorelei didn't understand. Without warning, she was locked in the woman's warm embrace. It felt nice, and she wrapped her arms around her to return the hug. "Time is up, darling. He's about to find you..." She began to feel dizzy all of a sudden, her consciousness starting to slip away from her grasp once again. Those striking, kind eyes were the last thing she saw before that familiar darkness flooded her vision. "And he doesn't like to lose."

They say that your drunk thoughts are what your sober consciousness wants. Does that mean I want you? I can't get you out of my mind. All I see is your eyes, one blue and one grey, your soft lips . . . But I know I can't have you. Nor would you ever want someone like me. Someone like me, so undeserving, unworthy and far too ugly to even be in your presence. Besides, you already have someone else. Someone who makes you smile, who loves you more than I ever could. She's everything I'm not. She's everything you'll ever want. Looking back on that night, it was a mistake, and it was wrong. It was the night I lost you forever. I lost my only chance of ever being in love, after rejecting you to protect myself. To protect myself from the inevitable heartbreak, from the tears that I knew were bound to come, and from you. You, my true mate, Xavier Black. Follow Lexi Anderson on her heartbroken journey, will she get together with her mate? Or will she crushed by the loss of him?
