I'm weak and broken, tormented by monsters that keep reaching for me, touching my body, hurting me, living marks on my skin and soul. I don't know how it feels to sleep without waking up in the middle of the night sweating, incapable of defending myself, too afraid to scream for help. Until I meet him. He is strong enough to cast away the nightmares, to fight my demons scaring them away, to erase my scars with his tender touch. He teaches me to fight back, to be strong, to scream for help because now there is someone always coming to my rescue. Because now I have someone who loves me. Now I have him, my beautiful warrior, my soulmate, my leelen. We might not have met like normal people would, but again we are not normal and we are definitely not people. Even so our bond is stronger than anything and anyone. But finding my leelan is not the end of my story, it's just the beginning...

So what else are you supposed to do, rather than detach yourself, just to survive with the change? My life was planned. I had it all written in stone and had accepted what my life would become. That's what I had been prepared for. Though it sure as hell wasn't what I got.

"Please, stop," I begged, my voice cracking. Tears streamed down my face, my eyes swollen and burning. "I can't handle this anymore. Just stay away from me." His words, "Little Angel, don't say that. I'm here to love you," were like a cruel joke. Love? The word tasted like ash in my mouth. His actions screamed something entirely different. "Your sweet words won't change anything. You jump onto your bed and jerk your limbs away from the edge or always shut your closet door. Then you hide under the covers in hopes that they don't get to you. As you grow older you realize the invisible monster under your bed is just that, invisible. Its not that they don't exist, it's just that you don't see them. You write off the bumps in the night as the wind or shifting floorboards but they're lies. Little white lies you tell yourself so you can sleep at night. Well I'm here to tell you that whatever is causing those bumps is very real. In my case, the source doesn't hide in my closet but rather under my bed. And he's determined to drag me right there with him. Can you be friends with the monster under your bed? ** "Ask me Aria," he rasped. His voice dripped with temptation that would make the devil jealous. His lips were brushing against mine as we leaned into each other. I felt like I was drowning in his presence. The hand that was on my breast had moved to my waist, keeping me close even as I tipped towards him. His hand was still on my sex, leisurely teasing the area. "Please," I whispered. Something mixed between a growl and a purr escaped him. It vibrated deeply from his chest. I thought he would kiss me but he didn't. His lips hovered over mine before they softly traced my cheek. I gasped when his hands moved to under my arms, moving me until I straddled his thigh.

"I am not," I said, tugging on the cards. My fingers tangled with his. He let them go. I distributed the cards among us, my hair swinging as I leaned forward to give them their share. I tucked it behind my ears. They watched me quietly. I could hear the party outside my room, a muffled shouting beat, but we were safe in my room.
