"Trust no one."

Clara lives in a world where almost everyone has superpowers. Some use theirs for the greater good and others use it for their own greed. Most prefer to watch the action from the side. She wants to keep her head down, support her Mum and get on with her life without drawing any unnecessary attention to herself.

But she has a dangerous secret that could ruin her peace... and the entire city. And in a place like this, there's betrayal and lies.

It's only when the most evil super villain in the city figures it out, where she is suddenly forced to make hard decisions that will put both her, and everyone that she loves, at risk.

"What if she goes to the cops, Dad? That bruise on her face is enough to get you arrested and charged with assault." "What? You mean when she tripped over the mess you made in the kitchen?" His smile is so wicked that it chills me to my core. "She ain't going to the cops. Hell, she'll probably be back here tomorrow." "You're a bastard," I whisper, tears filling my eyes. "No wonder Mom left! She probably couldn't bear to spend another second with-" I'm pushed to the floor. Little did I know that a knock on my front door on a Wednesday afternoon would turn my life upside down. It would change everything. Had I have known this ever-so-useful piece of information beforehand, I would never have opened the door. In actual fact, I would have made sure I was as far away from it as possible. Unfortunately I don't happen to possess mind-reading powers, so therefore, the knock on the door came. And the one person who would singlehandedly destroy my life and make me question everything I've ever known, appeared. Right in front of me. He was RIGHT there. And there was nothing I could do. _______ Mature themes & some coarse language.
