Hannibal Lecter has completely removed his presence from his former patient's, Will Graham's, life, whom he seriously injured one thundering night. Will had previously believed they'd be running away together, as 'friends', but instead, Hannibal left the mentally derailed man to lay in his pool of blood on his home's floor. But the story doesn't end there. After recovering, Will actively seeks out the serial killer, hoping to express his forgiveness towards his elder and confess the feelings he'd kept buried deep within himself; until recently, that is. As the feelings begin to bubble over, the need to tell Hannibal how he feels grows stronger.
