"Hey. I'm sorry about her."

I turn around to the horrible sound of Ethan's sickly sweet voice. "Huh. Didn't know you gave a fuck about how I've been feeling recently."

"Taylor..." he says in a cautious tone, as if I'm a pile of rebellious teenage baking soda just inching it's way towards a puddle of vinegar.

I sigh. I hate how much I want him to keep talking, to listen to his voice for hours on end, again. "I wish we talked like we used to." I say bluntly.

"Tay, you know I-"

"I'm not trying to pick you up, Ethan. All I'm saying is that I've already lost a friendship, and I don't think I can handle the thought of missing the chance to fix another.
