Nobody saw it coming. We all were in the mind set that our government would never harm us. There hasn't been any rebellion, nor any protests. So what the government did, stunned us all.
Throughout the year of 2150, a wall was being built, separating the country into different sections. "To be more manageable" was the president's excuse. At that moment, we started to rebel. But rebelling only made the government improve on the walls.
By the end of the year, a huge wall, made out of an unknown material, was built. We were told to say goodbye to our loved ones on the other side. My boyfriend of 5 years and I were saying goodbye.
"I'll come back for you." He whispered, "I'll make a way to get to you, I promise."
Some called it the New Revolution; others called it a Civil War. No one knew what it was; they only knew that it divided the Country by more than State loyalty, even community loyalty. The deaths and destruction of the Country were not foreseen. Outside influence wasn't even thought of; no one thought it would go as far as it did. The deaths could only be estimated, that estimate was over a million. Some say it was a natural event, a combination of a two-party system, and the growing divide it caused. No matter the cause, we did to ourselves.
