Rowan lives in a small village, called Mikaim, at the edge of the forest of east Wesmidia, a small but prosperous country in the medieval world.

10 years ago, the eastern state, Pirlam, has decided to break ties with the country and declared itself independent. The activists, who called themselves Aminalics (amina is Latin for soul), spread their propaganda so well that the current king, Raymond, who was already physically weak, couldn't do much. After 5 years of fighting, a period called the Pirlamic war, the state Pirlam was officially independent. There is still a lot of agitation around the east of the country, where that state lay.

Now 5 years after the war, the king's life is coming to an end, without any children. His deceased brother's son Laurence, whom he raised, is going to take over his position. However, the Aminalics said that when the king Raymond would give up his position, they would take over the whole country, since Raymond was popular among the rest of the country.

In the meantime, Rowan is taking care of Mikaim, which is close to the restless east. She has to take care of her people that are being troubled by the robbers, her fighting and survival skills at the top of that part of the country. She arrived in the village 5 years ago, and nobody knows why she came there. Now she's the main defender and representative of Mikaim.

Then she saves the accountant of the royal family, what happens next, is something she thought never would happen.
