Due to Peril's role in saving the kingdom, Queen Ruby has decreed that firescales dragonets were no longer to be killed upon hatching. Now, they and their twins are abandoned in an isolated part of the kingdom, far from others of their kind.
    Many years later, and after much conflict with the SandWings over the Five-Tail River delta, Queen Cerise can hardly believe her luck when a patrol learns of a pair of surviving dragonets in the northern reaches of the kingdom. Hunter and Fire accept the queen's offer to live in the palace, and Cerise waits for the day when Fire will be old enough to fight for her kingdom.
    But if Fire doesn't want to fight, will Cerise take no for an answer?
