Alex just wants to get through high school without much incident and get into a good college, but it's extremely hard to focus solely on grades when there's a serial killer on the loose and everyone at his school is really sketchy and suspicious. Just his luck.

He's also an orphan, and he's been bouncing around foster homes since he was about 11. In all of them, he's been abused, one way or another. He's been in about 7 different homes by now, and his current one doesn't seeeem so bad. But you never know. He's 14, and and has been jumped ahead a few years in school.
