"I see someone has a specific taste in significant others," Yang said.

"And what do you mean by that?" Blake asked.

"What I mean by that is," Yang got close to Blake that their noses and foreheads were touching, "you like people with a fiery soul. And you're in luck, Blakey."

Meeting on the first day of Beacon, Blake and Yang met on the bus heading to school, which was awkward itself. After trying to start up a conversation with Blake, Yang finds out there was no way she could reach out to her without mentioning a book of some sort. Finally getting her to break out of her shell, Yang develops feelings for Blake. When Yang thought everything was going well for her, she finds out Blake was already in a relationship. Torn by grief, Yang does the only thing she knows how to do: be a guardian for Blake, until feelings come to Yang.

Ruby Rose wanted to go to Beacon Academy for three reasons. One,to follow her mother's foot step to be the best huntress and musician who spread joy while protecting people in need. Two, yang her half sister is attending it. Three, to keep the promise that she make together with her childhood friend who she is in love with since young. Which is to go to the best academy in the four kingdoms which is beacon of course. Though she knew it will be one in a million chance that she can find her. She still want to go. Weiss schee have everything she need but that's not what she wanted. She wanted to share her music and fight for the people just like her doltky childhood friend who she is secretly in love with. So she decided to go to beacon as its the best Academy in the four kingdoms. But there is another reason too. She wanted to keep her promise with her childhood friend which is to go to the best academy in the four kingdoms. Even though her chances of meeting her childhood is slim she still wanted to go. But little do they know that they have found their childhood friend which is each other. Will they finally realise what they were looking for is right infront of them? The fall of Beacon Academy left Yang with her fair share of scars, both physical and mental. Recovering from her injuries back home in Patch, she spends her nights sleepless as the memory of her failure to protect her partner keeps her awake. When confronted with the possibility that Blake is, once again, in danger Yang sets out to find her. A familiar black ribbon remains tied around her wrist. She will not fail her again. Running. Blake was becoming a master at it. After her partner nearly died trying to save her, Blake ran home to Menagerie. She can't run from her nightmares though as she wakes almost every night screaming for Yang. When her demons once again catch up to her Blake is left with no other option than to face them. The familiar red shotgun shell tied around her neck a constant reminder of what they took from her. She will not let them hurt her again. As both girls discover their reasons for protecting their partner they also begin to discover more about themselves. Is it just partners wanting to protect each other...or is it much more?
