Nothing is ever the same after being turned into a weapon for the military and the key to another world. After El was adopted by Hopper, she could finally lead a normal life with Mike and her friends. Whenever Will was bullied she was always there for him, there to protect him, until the nightmares started. She may have closed the rift between the Upside Down and Hawkins but she only had so much power and it was only closed temporally. She had found her sister, 008, she could make people see their worst fears, after seeing the nightmares she realized she wasn't her only sister. When (Y/n) was moved to Hawkins Middle School right after winter break suspicions are rising if (y/n) was really the person she posed to be.
