The year is 2142.

107 years after nuclear war brings life to its knees, the earth is still frozen from nuclear winter. The snow never stops, the temperature rarely gets above freezing, and only the toughest plants and animals survive.

Humanity is in the process of making a rebound, establishing a city called Ansonville. More than half a million people inhabit Ansonville, making it even larger than the city of Detroit when the bombs struck in 2035.

But Ansonville is far from a utopia. Theft, murder, even cannibalism when food is scarce all prevent Ansonville from being the thriving metropolis it has the potential to be. But the worst of all is the sex trade.

Some men try to convince themselves that they're doing their part in repopulating the planet, others have already become desensitized and simply seek satisfaction. A very vast minority sees the evil in it, but they're far too weak to do anything.

Unable to fight back, the minority fled to the mountains, prairies, and deserts instead. As far away from Ansonville as possible. Countless women went with them.

With Ansonville's population in favor of the men 70/30, they sent parties--and eventually established permanent outposts--around the continent to capture as many outsiders as possible. The women were shipped back to Ansonville, while the men were either sent off to mine coal or were executed.

The grandson of one of the original outsiders, Bennet returns home to find his brothers and mother mercilessly slaughtered, and his sister gone. Ansonville has found them.

With winter setting in, and no family or friends left alive to help him, he embarks on a journey of more than a thousand miles southward to rescue his sister and bring her home to their ashen valley.

Long before the extraordinary was vanquished and confined to the realm of children's tales, giants walked the Earth. Sixteen feet tall, powerful, long lived, they hunted the colder regions of Northern Europe in tight nomadic tribes, thriving unchallenged... Until a tiny, clever, mindlessly aggressive, voraciously reproducing competitor invaded their habitat. In such confrontations, Darwinian rules predicted unavoidable conflict. The odds would have favored the tiny invaders. The giants' formidable strength would not have been enough to overcome their adversary's sheer numbers. After enough battles the choice for these immense beings must have been obvious-- Flee or be annihilated. Some chose oblivion, giving birth to the glorious bedtime stories in our lore... Others fled. Hiding from view, keeping to the outskirts, they searched for a sanctuary so remote, so desolate and so uninviting, that their relentless persecutors wouldn't bother with it. Eventually they settled within the ice of the great glaciers of Antarctica, establishing a peaceful, isolated colony that flourished undisturbed for centuries. Then a clever scientist mixed up a batch of Rare Earth Elements and created a superconducting material that could corral as much energy as the sun could throw at it as long as it stayed around the temperature of ice. The invention instantly transformed the Last Continent into a lucrative chunk of real estate. Humans and their machinery poured in, domesticating the wild frontier spreading like lava over ice, probing every nook and corner. Inevitably they collided with the hidden giants. Only this time there was no place left for them to run... This time there would be war.

When 18 year-old trust fund kid Quinn York's tourist shuttle to Mars unexpectedly crashes, he wakes up only remembering one name: Celeste. He knows he has to find her no matter the cost, even if he loses his own life in the process. Quinn discovers the world is changed however; the nuclear holocaust that caused the shuttle to crash also set the world in commotion. It becomes a "kill or be killed" life for Quinn as he does anything he can to find Celeste. To do so, he must survive cruel raiders, grotesque animals, and a new breed of mutated human survivors called Skulks. **PLEASE NOTE: This is a progressive book, meaning throughout the book, the main character will be presented with different options. A "Choose Your Own Adventure" if you will! It is up to you as the readers to determine the actions of Quinn York. I don't know how this story will turn out, and I'm excited to see what path it takes. Will Quinn be a fearless raider killer or will he become the most horrible human being on the planet? THE READERS WILL DECIDE - HIS FATE IS IN YOUR HANDS!!! **Please comment at the end of the chapter about which action you vote for to make it simpler for all of us. I will require a minimum number of comments/votes before moving on, which I will state at the end of the chapter. I will post a new chapter once a week, because I do have a busy life, and I will be doing several revisions on top of massive brainstorming depending on what options you all choose. So please be patient, and please "LIKE" my book to spread the love. Thanks and enjoy reading "Nuclear"
