A kiss for Ree
"You got hotter?. How long have I been away?" Jax drapped an arm over my shoulder. I smiled, but my gaze met with Ludwig's again, his eyes narrowed in a possessive way I knew too well. Well if he's dancing with another girl, then I'm going to dance with Jax. Ludwig wasn't the only one watching. I could feel the quiet hum of people's gazes glued to me. I ignored them all. The only person I couldn't ignore was Jax. My Jax. "Let's dance." I nodded in agreement. Jax's musky cologne filled my nose as we started to dance. He warped his arms around me, hugging me close in a way that felt like home. One moment, Jax's warmth was warped around me like a warm blanket and the next-someone violently yanked us apart. My body jolted as I was pulled back, and before I could react, I felt a strong hand on my wrist, dragging me away from Jax. What the hell?. Of course it was Ludwig!. *** She had plans. One crush ends up in a hospital bed, another moves far away, and just when she thinks it can't get worse, her father forces her into an arranged engagement without a single explanation.
