"Choose," Ares yelled. Those violet eyes glowed in the darkness, a purple so electrifying even the lightening above couldn't compare. 

"Me or him, Opal. Choose." Archer took a threatening step toward his brother, lips pulled back in a snarl. The torrential downpour soaked his clothing, and made his honey hair drip into his eyes. 

My hands shook. No, no, no! How could it have come to this? The two men I loved the most in this world, about to tear each other to pieces. All because of me.

I looked down when something shiny caught my eye. At my feet was Ares' gold crown, snapped in half. I picked up the pieces, almost laughing at the symbolism.
