But what if it already did, many years ago? But the clock tower still chimes so it must still carry on.
But when the last chime of the clock tower sounds, will the human race rise, or will it plummet into a raging chaos?

In the year 2112, one hundred years after the meteor crash and seventeen years after WWIII, there exists a nationality of sorts known as 'Furries'. Their appearances range from simple ear and tail attachments to horrifying, beastly mutations, but that's not important. What is important is the relationship between our main characters as they travel towards their destination, and face many hardships along the way that may or may not relate to this minority. Many controversial views will be addressed as expected with everyday life, so I suggest you proceed with caution. Guns will be shot, lies will be told, kisses will be exchanged, and the human mind will be pushed beyond the edge of insanity. This is not your average story. Why? Because you have me as the narrator. You can trust me. (Nominated for On the Rise in the 2011 Watty Awards.)

2145 Long, long ago, humanity had reached it's peak in peace and prosperity. The sad thing was that there was still war and starvation. Overpopulation took it's toll, taking away room and a surplus of food. The world continued to die until 100 years ago, when Governer Zackly's great grandfather had come up with an idea. What if we could halve the earth's population? What if, within a region, the strong will rise, one by one, to create a better, more efficient society. This was Zackley's vision. However, every vision of change comes with bloodshed. The only way for the strong to emerge is if they eliminate the weak. And that is exactly what today's society is based upon. I am Bertolt Hoover. It's been years since the collapse. Countless lives lost, history, and cultures forgotten to the horrors we live today. As it stands now, only a fraction of the settlements survived since the start of the war against the monsters described outside the wall that protects us. Earth was officially lost as the last army protected the evacuation into space, many years have passed since then, and the likeliness of any human resistants on Earth have long since faded. Humanity struggled to adapt and survive on the distant planet of Mars in our solar system, the cold red deserts have challegened humanity beyond its capacity to live and yet humanity prevailed by all means. Due to Y/N's service history, he was allowed into the vault during the nuclear warhead exchange between America and China, and that's where our story starts. Now I have to finish by May 5th. I'm not as far along as I had hoped at this point, but I'm sure I can make it. May 4th. 12:10 am. Finished. Submitted. Good night. May 20th. Well, 13 Points made the Long List. I have no idea how many original entries there were but about 940 made the first cut. There's 150 on the Long List. Not bad for my first time out. Now we'll wait and see how we fare on the Short List. May 30th. Well, Sarah and company didn't make the Short List. I can't say I'm disappointed though. You died. I mean, it happened quite a bit during your lifetime. It wasn't anything different. However, instead of you waking up in the barracks again, you found yourself in a very odd place. A place where skin and fur were the same thing. "I hope I don't die too many times here."
