Summer had passed with Stefan being gone. Elena felt lost without her boyfriend, and quite frankly the brothers did too. 

Holden's love for the brown eyed girl continued as he couldn't imagine a world without her smile or her laugh. With Stefan being gone with Klaus, the two grew closer.
