The river had always been a place of peace. Until December brought pure horror. The river was mostly frozen over in the place I was standing with my family.  "Be careful guys," my mother warned us.  "We will," we all said back happily. Suddenly the whole ice shifted and left a huge gaping hole in the middle. It hadn't hurt any one of us. My cousin, Gwyssa, was up for the week for fun.  "Lyla, be careful! You're right on the edge of the sturdy ice, hon," my mother told me. I knew I was alright so I didn't pay any attention. But when the ice shifted again, I wasn't so lucky this time. Then, Gwyssa decided to do the impossible: jump in to save me.All Rights Reserved

Her body was frozen and sore, proud that she made in, but tired .
