These words were so formal, so unreal.

"I swear." He could feel the Earl smirk above him.

"Do you swear to obey the Princess' every command, and do so with honor?"

"I swear."

"Do you swear complete loyalty to the Princess over your name, family,  
life, and kind?" He gritted his teeth

"I swear."

"You are now officially the male mate of the Princess, you may rise."

He rose, jaw raised high despite the situation. His hooded eyes met hers.

Arresting crimson eyes, even more chilling than her mother's that belonged to no one else but her.
