In the year 2050, the government hides a lot of things from the public, one of them being the side effects of vaccines. After 20 years of the various forms of cancer killing millions of people, all the people care is that a cure has been found. A cure that only works on children aged 12 to 19. A group of teens forced to receive the vaccine by their parents develop some interesting side effects that wouldn't seem out of place in an Avengers movie. But can they keep the new powers hidden from the government in order to survive?

The year is 2096. Computers, and other recognition software with them, have grown infinitely more powerful since the 2010s. Business is thriving. People are running about, living their lives, and generally enjoying themselves with their new 'smart' devices, which, for better or for worse, are actually living up to their name. Finally. Enter outcast Vincent Schorennherr. Her parents [emphasis on her] parents wanted a boy, no luck on that account, and they let her know that every day. You think that's not so bad? Think again. "Sorry, Vincent, but you're going to school anyways, flu or no flu." Well, just before first period, a 'conveniently'-timed password-entry prompt pops on on her phone screen, right as she: 1) Presses the sensor, and 2): sneezes, spreading rhinoviruses all over herself and her phone. She wipes the phone off and goes to class,thinking nothing more of the incident until the next day, when she goes to turn it on and gets a kill screen: "Fatal Error 81-141. The flu's contagious, didn't you know that? Bye now, gone to play Caesar- Veni, vidi, vici and all that." With that, her phone blinks off, and within hours, other phones begin to follow suit. With panic on the rise, and global tensions rapidly following suit, can Vincent and her friends find the cure before it's hard shutdown? **NaNoWriMo 2017** Complete in the sense that I'll probably never write any more of this story. The Hawaiian Special Forces
This is the story I'm writing for NaNoWriMo 2015. The goal: 50,000 word RAW draft written entirely in the month of November. Unlike most of my stories, which I prefer to edit before posting, I'm actually going to post updates to this at the end of each day in chapter-sized chunks. The idea behind this story is that a terrorist attack in the near future causes the US to go hyper-isolationist, to the point that it abandons Hawaii and Alaska to fend for themselves. They do, forming the United Pacific States (maybe with a few other island countries). Hawaii then goes on to turn itself into the new world police with stealthy, genetically modified cyber-soldiers. I'm marking this story as mature because there will be action scenes, and probably some interesting perspectives on nudity and relationships. I'm not planning on anything explicit, but this won't be a kids book. Validated winner at 50,040 words!Completa

100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. Sanctuary. That was what the quarantine dome was supposed to be, a place of refuge from the N-Gel and the deadly Neoplague they unleashed on the world. But we aren't safe here. Senna is uprooted from her rural life in the outer dome when her mother agrees to marry the President of Sanctuary. It was supposed to be a Cinderella story, but Senna can't stand the health and status obsessed city. Her only escape comes from repairing an antique piece of wireless tech, an endeavor that is seemingly hopeless due to the interference that reduced such tech useless after the invasion. Senna believes that if she can get the device to work, she can use it to contact the life she left behind. However, it isn't her old life she reaches when she gets the device to power on. Instead she catches the SOS of a little girl who claims to be held captive in the toxic world outside of the dome. The girl offers a reward for her rescue-the cure for the plague that forced humanity into quarantine and took Senna's father from her.
