The Mute Girl That is what Jessica Graye has been called ever since a terribly traumatic event two years ago. She lost almost everything she cared about and can't seem physically to find her ability to speak. She won't be able to. It's gone and it won't be back. Some people say she's using her silence as a sick form of attention, others say she's just an introvert or shy. A fresh start they said. That's what she needed. Will that be the case or will the bullying follow her there, and throughout the rest of her life of silence? She loses everything, including her voice. Sophia hasn't been the same since she lost David, her best friend. Since that day, the light that made her unique seems to have faded. Now, years later, Sean-who's been in love with her since their first day of high school-feels it's finally time to get closer, to truly try. But winning Sophia's heart won't be easy: not just because of the weight of the past, but because David's ghost is still there. In the sudden silences, in the guarded gestures, in that part of her that always seems somewhere else. Between attempts at love, steps backward, and truths never spoken, Sophia will have to choose: let go, or stay tied to what once was. Because only when you learn to let go, can you truly begin to live.
