Lexi paced back and forth and pulling at her hair.
"Please Lexi calm down, you're just stressed-" I began to say, hoping that maybe my words would soothe her.
"Of course you don't understand me! Alex mister perfect!" She screamed in frustration "Theres more than this!.. theres more.." she trailed off, only to stop in front of my window.
"Lexi?" I said softly. Never feeling this helpless before, only wanting nothing more than to hold her.
She glared at me, "I thought you were my best friend..." then stormed off before I could say anything else.

All of a sudden I saw another shadow flit across the street. I caught my breath but decided it was nothing, because I knew people would be out at 8 pm. I mean, it's not that late. We must be getting pretty close to the apartment complex by now. Suddenly someone grabbed my arm and yanked me back. I managed to scream before they covered my mouth with their hand. "Aubrey?" I heard Skylar cry in alarm. "Aubrey?!" I tried to get away from the person but he held me tighter, dragging me back down the street and towards an ominous-looking black car. I was being kidnapped. I thought I had died. When I came to, I found myself in this strange place, disoriented and confused. I looked around and found another five pairs of eyes looking at me with the same emotion swirling in their gaze. Now, 15 years later, I train with these girls. Our makers take care of us, feed us, and make sure we are clean, healthy, and fit. Some of us never had that; that's probably why it took so long for us to realize we were being used. The dirty work they made us do, none of us questioned it. How could we when we were taken off the streets? For a chance at normalcy, we settled for anything, even if that meant blurring the lines of right and wrong. Call it what you will, it's all the same, all has the same life breaking, mind shattering consequences - be it for the victim or the bystander. It had shaped Alex in a way no one should be. Broken down and rebuilt into the perfect soldier, one who had the power to change the world, to fight battles that would either make or break the carefully constructed vision we all live in. The only small, minute, really unimportant detail - it's pretty hard to get into a government classified site when you're 15 years old and have a rag-tag team of double-crossing back-stabbers behind you.
