Zoey Summers doesn't talk about the past. In reality, she doesn't talk at all. She hasn't spoken a word in nearly 10 years, to anyone. Found on the side of the road when she was eight, she doesn't remember anything beyond waking up in the hospital after surgery. The only thing in her mind is the order.

Thrown into the foster system, she goes from home to home, as no one wants to adopt the silent child. Zoey Summers is locked into the dark corners of her mind, trapped in what she had gone through before discovery.

When she turns 17, she runs away from one of the worst foster homes, determined to survive the system. She knows what's out there. She knows what's waiting.

However, ten years later, Zoey is soon confronted by a handsome detective working in the missing children's network and she is soon forced to confront the past, a past her mind has wiped from her memory.
