Rags Are Far Better Than Riches

I have a story idea. It's kind of along the lines of Beauty and the Beast/ Aladdin but reversed. In this story the boy is rich, arrogant, and selfish. The girl is poor, kind, and selfless. Her parents died years ago and the man she lives with puts her in an auction. The boys servants buy her. And bring her to his home. Hoping she can change him, because he wasn't always so rude. There was a time, once, when he smiled. There was a time when he laughed. There was a time when he. . . Loved. She soon learns that she can't be freed till she makes him nicer, so she tries and tries. But he doesn't budge. The more she tries, the further away he goes. But, what she doesn't know, is that she's getting to him. He's starting to like her. He wants to get to know her. And, slowly, he might begin to fall in love with her. But she doesn't know that. And one day, she's too tired to try anymore. She runs away and the boy is devastated. He sends people out to look for her. And once he finally finds her, he admits is true feelings. And that rags are far better than riches.
