"So I'm just a goofball? I'll show them that they're wrong." Lance McClain is someone perceived as a goofball. He changes quickly and effectively, being silent and expressionless. He closes himself off to everyone but Coran and the lions. He forces himself to look past his injuries and emotions so that everything is going to be fine. "So now I matter? Where was all of this before? I get hurt and now you act like I matter?" Maybe they should've said something before. "Why do I matter now?" This is a no-ship fic.

6 years ago, Lance was kidnapped without a clue to where he went. Team Voltron searched far and wide, with not even a smidge of luck. They still have a bit of hope, but after 6 years that hope is dwindling. The blue lion has a new paladin, and the team is moving on. 5 years in the slave trades changed Lance, physically and mentally. He is a new person, no longer the goofy blue paladin he once was. He is now the leader of a year-old group of do-gooder assassins who take down the people who once "owned" them. Their identities hidden, they are known only as the "Deathhawks", and Lance known as "Pike". When Voltron hears about the Deathhawks, they want to meet up and ask them to join the Voltron Coalition. What happens when the paladins meet up with them, "Pike" included?

(Complete) Voltron was supposed to protect the galaxy which would also mean that they should be protecting each other. But they don't seem to have a care for Lance, who was the paladin that was there for everyone. Always there to listen to other complaints. But they are just treating the poor boy like chopped liver, no one really cares about him. That's one of the reasons Keith left Voltron, there was too much drama. But what happens when the Red paladin comes back. Will Lance be able to gain his smile back.
