The one thing most people crave is to fit in, be part of society and have friends. For me that's been a difficulty from the start. I've always known i was different, I'd have to be lying to myself not to realise that. I've never wanted the mundane life of a boring job, an education and a family. All I've ever dreamed of was excitement, fortunes and doing what I love. But the world is a dangerous place. Exposing my power would mean leaving the humans and joining the creatures of night. Ever since the uprising, when anyone is suspected of having any power or magical ability, they mysteriously disappear and many fear they were stolen by the evil magic doers that started it all, who are a morph of every child's nightmares, who are every evil cliche rolled into one and who are the very people i fear i might belong to. If they ever found out about me my life would change from a boring teen drama into a horror movie in seconds. So, i continue being normal, not quite knowing what i am or if i could grow up into a creature of nightmares and i wait, for a time when humans are free and i can finally be me without being seen as an evil, dark creature. For a shy girl, who has no friends and who spends lunchtime reading on a bathroom floor, there's no one i can confide in, no one i can talk to and no one who understands. I may just be a girl from northern Ireland, but it seems my life just got a whole lot more complicated.
