"Maxie, why'd your dad try to hide you from me?" Axel asks as he cuddles Maxine on the couch and softly kisses her fresh mark. She smiled and shrugged. Unsure of what her dad wanted by that. She'd only be in pain if she was kept from her mate. She'd felt the bond before, but it was so much stronger now.
"I- he- uh- oh Gosh Axel I don't know! " She held the back of his head and brought him up to her for another kiss.
"The very moment I saw you at that coffee shop, I knew we'd be together no matter what. As I told your father: 'Don't worry old man, I'll find her.' And I found you."
Maxine is a normal 17 year old werewolf. Yep you read correctly. Werewolf. It wasn't common for females to be born with the gene (when a male finds his mate she is almost always human until marking and the Transformation during which the female goes through a series of painful changes in her body. She finally shifts and is ready to give her mate pups), so when she was, Maxine was considered the Wonder Wolf. Everywhere she went, wolves knew of her, but they didn't dare harm her. Her father was the alpha of Blood Moon pack. The pack was known to be dangerous and ruthless, so if anything bad happened to Maxine, her father would not be merciful. So when Axel Black comes into the picture from the Lycan Dusk pack and shows signs of being Maxine's mate, her father does everything he can to hide her. But remember, mates always find each other.
