Starting at age 10 kids are given companion animals that develop along side them. These animals can range anywhere from a goldfish to a horse. The only catch is that they are assigned based on behavior during childhood. A Dragon being assigned to a child is unheard of...especially a female nonetheless...until one girl changed it all. She could be the rise or fall of Black Hollow.

"Hold a piece of rabbit like this and just be still." Theodora held the meat as instructed and the little dragon floated down turning blue in color and carefully took the offered tidbit.
