These are the thoughts of a gladiator of African descent as he contemplates his situation. How he has to endure the social constraints that his Roman masters impose upon him. He's mind is at war with itself, in the eyes of his master is nothing, he is less than a man. It is only when he enters the arena that he's existence means anything, it is where he becomes a god.

Ridus= A wooden sword awarded to gladiators who have earned their freedom.

Ludus= A school for training gladiators.

Dulce mel et calidum solem

20 parts Complete Mature

Under the stone vault where time seems suspended, the Roman bath reveals itself as a sanctuary of white marble, smooth and cold to the touch, but softened by the warmth of pure, crystalline water. The surface ripples slowly, disturbed by swirls of steam that rise with a mystical slowness. Sunbeams, filtered through high windows, pierce the misty air in golden blades, shattering into a thousand shards of light on the liquid mirror. Each reflection, each glimmer, is a fractured truth. And at the heart of this flickering clarity, one might glimpse a pair of eyes - two eyes of deep blue, as clear as water under the sun. But that deceptive blue, so pure in appearance, conceals the icy abyss of an unyielding will. For these are not the eyes of a god, but those of a tyrant, and the gleam that dances within them is not the light of virtue, but the shimmer of power. Commodus x OC My story is my own, it belongs to me and is inspired by the original work Gladiator.
