"Not this soon. I was gonna take Emma with me when I turned 18. That is if they weren't dead by then. I didn't expect it to happen so soon, but when we got home... He had her against the wall, he was shouting again, and it's not like that was something we hadn't seen before, that wasn't even bad, but... I was so tired of coming home to it. Scared that Emma came home to it when I wasn't there, that she had to see it at all made me sick. I told her to pack a bag, and mine too and pushed her to the stairs. He's not as good a fighter you know? So I pulled him off her... but I didn't see the glass in his hand and he smashed it over my head.
When Emma came down, we had to hide. In our own house from our father, we had to hide. I thought he'd get tired, but be got through the door. I kicked him. Kicked him as hard as I could. Blood everywhere. I kicked him until he passed out, and kicked him some more. And we ran. She didn't even, she wasn't worried about us. I just had to get Em outta there. I don't know how much longer we would have lasted in there." Danniel chokes on his tears a little, a few slip over his lashes.
He isn't sure when Logan came to the side of the couch and placed an awkward pat on his back, but he was thankful for it. It's the only comfort he's ever gotten for any of this.
