Lily Lou hates pretty much everything. She hates the aggressive mood and smoldering hatred in the air above each head and behind each eye. She hates the smothering smog that chokes and clogs and kills. She'd like nothing more than to escape in any way she can.  Then there's Cino. Too smart for his own good. Nevertheless, he turns a blind eye to Lily Lou's people, simply because it's easier that way.
