Marcella has never felt as if she could be like one of the heroines in her vast collections of adventure books. She's always believed it would be her badass best friend who would take on the big baddie and win the day.

Correction: her missing best friend.

Ximena went missing for 5 weeks, and unbeknownst to Marcella, had indeed embarked on an adventure of a lifetime in which she found a home, a true love, and a powerful place in the new world she had discovered.

Now, the threats that Ximena had already faced once before are back and ready for revenge. They've known for awhile about Ximena's background, and they also know about the one important person in Ximena's old life: Marcella.

In order to rid themselves of Ximena, they are going after her best friend. The girl who compared to Ximena is most definitely the sidekick of our story. At least that's what Marcella believes.

Marcella will sacrifice everything to find Ximena.

Ximena will stop at nothing to protect Marcella.

But no matter what separates them, whether it be skilled assassins or miles of distance, they are always with each other.
