In a world where everyone had a power, and everyone had a soulmate, a very average girl lives. This girl is named Grace Lockwood, and she lives on Elm Street off highway 28. She is 16. Just starting high school, that hell hole, she wonders if her life could get any worse. Her father has been diagnosed with a rare and deadly disease. One that has no known cure. Grace has to constantly remind her mother to sleep, then wake up, eat, and take her anti-depression pills. Her friends are slowly but surely nudging her aside-without even noticing. Her sister, Faye, has just recently died in an accident taking place only hours before her wedding. And though she has always had panic attacks, they seemed only to be getting worse and more frquent-exactly the opposite of what the doctor said. It seems as if the world is ending. The walls are closing in, the lights and colors are fading away. But then, she meets the new transfer student. Will Alex Fierro be able to turn her world upside down?
