This book is about a young girl Marie- Anna Lumbsden born to aristocratic family in Shadow Creek, Texas, who because of fear and paranoia has been left mentally crippled by her parents. Shielded from a normal and dream-filled life, she grew up an overly sheltered life. The boundaries has limited her ability to function effectively as a normal human being. Not knowing her true potential or what the outside world feels like, she's been poisoned by the stories fed to her brain by a father, who has grown paranoid after losing several children before her. No one communicates much with this little lad, even the common education is being restricted to just piano and voice training. The only thing she's good for in this family is to entertain maybe, yet she has never entertaining them.
