"Who's the kid across the street?" I asked my mom one day. "What boy?" My mother answered, looking out the window into the house across the street. "I don't see him." "You can't?" I asked, looking up at her. "No... oh! Right! The police said that a child was locked into the house by his parents in 1996, and I guess he died there...? I'm not exactly sure." My mother said, stroking my hair.
