In a world where creatures of all kind are supposed to live together in peace and harmony, a rising evil threatens to tear it apart.

James Christopherson always knew he was different. From an early age, he had a knack for trouble, often stealing food from the marketplace of whatever town his Uncle Lucas had moved them to.Part of the reason for their relocating, however, was due to James' lack of control over his unique gift. His uncle always warned him not to use his gift in public-a rule he eventually learned to break-and after an accident in the middle of town, James finds himself the target of an evil with which he knows nothing of.
After strange creatures known as Shifters attack his village and kidnap his uncle, he is taken to Raybourough, a safe place for people like him...or so he thought.
While trying to understand his gift, James teams up with an elf and another human to rescue his uncle from the grasps of the Shifters, even if it means entering into the darkest reaches of their lair and coming face to face with a realization he had been blind to his entire life.

My body sinks, water rushing through my nose and mouth like icy needles. I keep my eyes open, praying for a miracle. And then-he appears. A glowing form slicing through the water like lightning. His ginger hair floats around him, a halo of fire in the depths, dancing like the sea itself. He looks like an angel. My angel. My beautiful, guardian angel. --- Nineteen-year-old Marinette Karnowsky knows life as a bed of thorns and broken glass. Abandoned, abused, and barely surviving college on her own, she's grown used to pain. But everything changes the day her long-lost stepsister returns-sweeping Marinette away to a strange, stunning house in a town that doesn't exist on any map. A town where the supernatural breathes beneath every shadow. There, Marinette uncovers truths she never imagined. Her beloved sister is not entirely human-and the town, not entirely safe. As she tries to make sense of it all, Marinette meets her sister's best friend: a golden-haired boy with a blazing smile and fire in his soul. The deeper she falls, the harder it becomes to ignore the pull between them-even if it risks everything, especially her sister's heart. But their connection runs deeper than attraction. There's a secret buried in the halls of her new college, one that ties Marinette, her sister, and her mysterious fire-haired prince in ways none of them fully understand. And as that secret begins to surface, so does a destiny Marinette never asked for... and may not survive.

For centuries, humanity has battled against the Gates-dimensional rifts that unleash dungeons filled with monsters. Only the Awakened, gifted with supernatural abilities, can enter these dungeons and prevent disaster. Leon Valcrest was supposed to be one of them. Born to a prestigious family of high-ranking Hunters, his destiny seemed set in stone-until he underwent the Awakening and received nothing. Rankless. Powerless. Forgotten. But fate had other plans. One night, Leon stumbles upon a Gate that shouldn't exist, pulsing with a sinister crimson glow. Before he can react, it pulls him in, sending him into a place unlike any known dungeon-an ancient, forgotten realm sealed away from the world. And within it, a power long lost to time awakens inside him. Now marked as the Overlord of the Forgotten Gates, Leon must uncover the truth behind these mysterious rifts, face beings beyond human comprehension, and rise above the Hunters who once discarded him.
