Spring Break of my Junior Year in High School, I felt my world implode. My mom was diagnosed with cancer after a routine test done at the hospital. My family was thrown for a loop over the course of the next 14 months, my mom was fortunate to survive the colon cancer and I was fortunate to have some amazing friends, teammates and coaches to help me keep myself afloat when I thought my world was ending. I would not be the person that I am today without help from them, I appreciate them so much (even to this day). They knew when to handle me with care and to when to handle me with less care (mostly telling me to grow up and toughen up).
I wrote this as an assignment for my creative writing class (Earning a solid A on it!) and after some hard work to work the "wrinkles" out, I've decided to post a piece of mine and my families 14 months of hell. I really don't think I got most of the filler conversations 100% correct (they happened like four or five years ago). This is probably the most personal piece that I have posted to date, I hope you enjoy!
