LONG AGO, in a time of magic-when it was not something to be scorned or feared-there lived a young girl who had been favored by the old gods themselves. Born in a prosperous kingdom, to beloved and benevolent parents, it was said that she had been the prized jewel of all the land, for her gift allowed her to see things that none other could. When the moon joined the sky and her mind darkened to the soft caress of sleep, the future was displayed before her eyes. She saw the good and the bad, the inevitable and the uncertain, and stories which would occur long after she was gone. It had been a blessing, the kind that had made people worship the very ground she walked on.
Or so the legends went.
In truth, the young girl had not been blessed by the old gods. No, her power had been stolen, and they had not taken kindly to such a slight. Although it had been no fault of her own, she had been punished for the mistakes of her family, cursed to spout prophecies that no man or woman would ever believe. No longer a blessing, but an omen of bad fortune, she left the place she had once called home, never to return or be seen again.
But her prophecies lived on, and one foretold of a great and powerful evil that would one day darken all the land, and of the naive, unassuming girl who was the answer to stopping it.

She was the one that was going to teach him what affection was, what being loved felt like.
And he was going to teach her how thrilling a secret can be.
