As a small child, Irene saw the birds and wanted to join them in the sky. She wanted to be a pilot, and fly planes, feeling the adrenaline of being in the sky. But throughout her life she struggles to follow her dream, and balance other things in the mix.
This is a story i wrote for my english class, so please judge if cheesy and predctible.

Being a pilot in the US Navy had been a dream of mine since I was a kid. I worked hard at it right from a very young age and I was determined that nothing was ever going to get in my way. But then I met McKinney AKA Cap. She was small, weak, fragile...everything a US Navy pilot couldn't be and I made it my mission to help her out. Now my plans had changed...while I still trained to be a fighter pilot I was now more focused on getting this girl through training so she could earn her wings. Life had never been easy on her and I guess it's about time that somebody cut the poor girl some slack. She always promised she would repay me, much to my protest, for everything I had done for her and true to her word she did. But not in the way anybody ever should. The night of the accident was the worst day of my entire life but the pain of what happened to me will never live up to the suffering she subdued herself to. So this is our story.
