My boyfriend wasn't born a dominant person. I still wouldn't describe him as dominant. I would say that he knows I feel loved, cherished, and protected when he looks out for me, so that's what he does. If I were to feel more loved given free rein and independence, he'd do that for me. I just happen to feel that if I wanted to "be my own woman" I'd be much more successful at that on my own and wouldn't have bothered getting involved with him in the first place.
