The Selector Ball is always something to be feared and dreaded, especially when you come of age. I had to attend, whether I wanted to or not, and I didn't. I was a prize to the King, or to any vampire bidder who was invited to attend the bidding ceremony, and I knew it. I prayed that I wouldn't get sold or chosen by the King, but my prayers were never answered.
The King fell in love with me, like he does with all his Selections, since he holds the Selector Ball to find a queen, even though it is forbidden in the laws of nature. I found myself in an awkward position, and I didn't know what to do. But with the help of a Selection of the former King, I found the goodness in... the one I had grown to love. And I became his Queen.
