When Jamie Cavanagh's 8-year old sister Sunny is diagnosed with terminal cancer, it seems like Jamie's whole world comes crashing down around her. Sunny's only chance to live is through a bone marrow transplant, but neither Jamie nor her brother Chris are a match, and the only other person that could possibly be one is their older brother Aidan. The problem? No one really knows where Aidan is. Jamie hasn't seen him since she was 10 years old. And considering their history, she isn't looking forward to meeting him again. Nevertheless, in a last-ditch effort to try and save their sister, Jamie and Chris decide to track down Aidan, learning more than they bargained for on the way.

As Nell recovers from the loss of her mom, her Dad's depression, and a string of failed relationships, Rory has remained her one reliable constant. He is not only her dad's best friend, but also the harbor she comes home to when life gets tough. That unique bond gets put to the test when Nell develops feelings for Rory that go a little deeper than he can allow. Their difference in age, their entangled lives, and the judgement of their closely-connected families stand in the way of their happiness. And risking the love they already share for a more intimate kind of love seems to be too much of a gamble.
