The Rules

COMPLETED✅ Two high school teenagers finding themselves, analyzing this ever changing world, and building love. This is the type of love you wish you found in high school but probably know way too well that it only exists as fiction. The passenger window rolls down, and I spot the most unexpected person seated behind the wheel. "Get in" comes out his voice, and I must've stood there agape for a few moments because next comes his rhetorical question. "Are you getting in or continuing walking in the rain?" An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. When they're rivals in academics, leadership, sports, EVERYTHING and she asks "Why is it me? Why do you always single me out?" Gawking two guys in a hot-blown make-out session in the mathematical section of the library was not what I expected my first day after Winter breaks to be like. And didn't realize that seeing them was about to change my whole high school experience... The Best Kind of Betrayal
It's the first day of June's senior year and everything is already going wrong. Her first boyfriend and supposedly love of her life dumps her for someone else, her heart is broken and feels like it won't ever heal again and her best friend makes her join the most unnecessary club on earth to help her find new friends she most definitely does not need. Still. New chances are for new beginnings, right? Instead of falling into a deep dark pit of self pity (however tempting that may sound), all of this betrayal ends up leading her to the best friends she's ever had and the most exciting school year of her life. Oh - and a whole new fake boyfriend, to get some revenge on that idiot who dumped her. And who knows. Maybe even more.
The Nerd Who Rules The School
