life is hard for a type 1 diabetic. For the ten or eleven  (I forget which) years I've been diabetic, I've heard you can cure it with lettuce, you can take pills to manage it, you can lose weight to get rid of it, but they don't realize that that is type two. type two is cause by insulin resistance whereas type 1 is an auto-immune disorder. She practices of managing her starvation by distracting it and never catches a break on the scale. Nobody is aware of it, it was something Rita doesn't want her friends or family to know, hiding her body from them didn't last long. Her mother noticed the dramatic weight change on her body. She tries to help her get back to her eating and tells her many times that she's "perfectly skinny" but nothing works. Her mother puts her foot down as Rita started to get ill, her mom takes her to a mental health hospital. She deals with consequences from her nurses and other patients.

All about this story is my imperfect perfect life with my boyfriend who people would say is obese and as a ten I shouldn't date a two but I didn't care about that.
