The small, dull town of Blue Lion holds a secret. Hailey Phillips has the perfect life working as a gardener in the city and hanging out with her handsome boyfriend, Oliver Park. However, when she finds a red shovel in her cellar, she begins to realise that things are not quite as they seem in the Phillips family. A wedding leaves Hailey with some startling questions about her past, and she sets off to Blue Lion to find some answers. At first the people of Blue Lion are funny and smart. She is intrigued by the curiously popular actor, Landon Scott. However, after he introduces her to cigarettes, Hailey slowly finds herself drawn into a web of murder, robbery and perhaps, even kidnaping. Can Hailey resist the charms of Landon Scott and uncover the secret of the red shovel before it's too late, or will her demise become yet another Blue Lion legend?

27 year old December Bellamy has not only endured a soul shattering break up, but is now at the age where her peers are announcing engagements seemingly every month. She should be the one with a ring on her finger right now, planning her bachelorette party. Instead, she's allowed herself to be convinced by her younger sister to try out this new dating app, and despite all of her reservations, things seem to be going well. That is, until Hudson. It was one thing that he stood her up, and another thing that he gave a terrible excuse about why. But, when Hudson begins to mention small details about her world that she's never shared with him, that's when things get too weird for December to handle. Breaking things off was such a no brainer, there was no second thought given to it even after Hudson promises she's made a huge mistake. Before long, December is receiving emails, photos, and gifts from an unknown sender who has seemed to be everywhere and no where all at once. With a egotistical ex-boyfriend, a mysteriously and suspiciously invested neighbor, and a best friend that's a little too devoted - December soon realizes, this threat is closer to home than she expected.
