For almost three months, America has been at war, since a day that will live in infamy.
For the rest of the allies, it has been three years.
Kyle is exhausted, and knows the path of war is still long and unwinding before him. And yet here he sits in another meeting, listening to the others argue, tired and ready to head home and fight in the Pacific Theater, Alfred with him every step of the way.
It is February 19th, 1942 at home in Australia, early in the morning. And yet here he is in the northern hemisphere, arguing with the other allies, and he cannot shake the feeling that something terrible is about to happen.
At 9:58 AM, in Darwin, Australia, Kyle will learn how an attack on one's own soil can affect a personification first hand, and Alfred will make a vow to become death, destroyer of worlds.All Rights Reserved

He'd learned a lot in it. That England was easy to gaslight if you knew what you were doing. France would back away from any show of force. Germany could ignore a bumbling idiot even as the evidence piled up just because he wasn't very good with people. Poland saw everything and read people like a book. Prussia would keep his mouth shut if you gave him enough liquor or made him obedient. Russia would turn a blind eye if you turned one to him. China never trusted anyone even if there was evidence of the contrary. His mother's revenge would play out, and it would make him the happiest man in the world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hetalia:Axis Powers. No ships in this book! If there is it's in the past! Mostly sibling bonding. America can shapeshift and is non-binary (he/him female titles).

After the second American Civil War, the world changes drastically. A new nation stood where the United States once was, the Last Empire having fallen to its own people. Addicted to more chemicals than a lab rat, Alfred has a hard time keeping his head up- quite literally. It's not that he doesn't want to quit- believe me, he does!- it's just that the withdrawal is destroying him from the inside out. What makes it worse, is when he's placed into an arranged marriage as a landgrab, and then told about it just before it happened. Now he is wrestling with both his addiction, and someone he was supposed to marry in 1860! Ivan was an addict, once. He understood the pain of withdrawal. He wants to help, since there was nobody around to help him. The idea of joining the Union was one he hadn't even thought of before his boss had arranged the marriage with the dictatrix. Now, he was thrown into a world he didn't know, forced to interact with people he had never met, and be one of the first nations, the third most powerful, to join a mega-nation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Extra: Alfred is headcannoned as brown get over it. this is a concept I really like but I've never seen it done right so I decided to take matters into my own hands America is ordered to take a week to invite over a few of his fellow nations in order for them to get along better. He takes them to his old house of which only Lithuania has been in. The only issue is that the other don't know the extent of America. It's either the easy way or the hard way depending on if they can follow five simple rules. 1. Take your shoes off when you go inside. 2. No fighting. 3. Don't go in the attic. 4. Don't go in the basement. 5. Ask if you need help with something. Just watch and learn.

America never really paid attention to the news, only Good Morning America, of course, but when the flooding and crippling storms started in the south and worked their way to D.C., he got nervous. Bunkers and shelters were built, supplies were stocked, factories and farmers worked around the clock before the Storm could hit them. One might think the United States was prepping for war, and in a way, they were. They had to fight for their lives. Alfred is alone in a bunker, panicking for his people and brothers and the rest of the countries like Japan and Germany. He hears a distant muffled sound above the howling winds, a frightened little boy sits in the corner with an old stuffed bunny sucking his thumb. No one notices him. How is America supposed to protect hundreds of people and himself against a storm that could kill people in a number of ways? And now a kid had moved him to become his caretaker. When Alfred became independent from England, France had muttered to him that he didn't know the pain of raising a child then losing it. But know, he assumes that he may just learn.
