Gravity Falls was the highlight of Dipper and Mabel's lives, but like all things, it came to an end. Their birthday came with both joy and dread as they aged to be technically teens but were forced to leave the place they'd grown so fond of.
By the time they'd reached Piedmont California, they'd cheered up again and were glad to greet their parents with open hugs. But whatever joy they had regained was quickly destroyed on the drive from the bus stop to home when they were in a severe car crash leaving their mother dead and Dipper completely blind.
