Tea Time and Cookies: A (not so) Quiet Beginning
Life ended quietly. Rebirth? Not so much. I'd lived a perfectly normal nerd-life: a family, a career, too many hobbies, and a purse full of "just-in-case" items. Gardening, old crafting techniques, reading, manga, animé-especially the alternate-world kind. If I had one regret, it was not traveling as much as I'd wanted. But all things end eventually. I expected nothingness... or whatever reward awaited after a long, fulfilling life. Instead, I woke up to the very real problem of a massive creature trying to eat me. I'd been reborn into another world. I should have been thrilled, right? With very little to go on-aside from the fact that magic existed here-I decided the smartest approach was to keep a low profile and train like crazy. Survive first. Explore later. My new family seemed pleasantly surprised (and occasionally alarmed) by my dedication to both physical and magical training. And once I started attending school, I made fast friends... then accidentally convinced them to apprentice under my father. The more the merrier, I figured. But hiding my abilities is proving harder than expected, and the more I grow, the more certain people seem unsettled by my existence. Surviving to adulthood may be the real challenge. *This is a slow-burn, coming-of-age story with early magic training. It is not a romance-yet. **This series is marked Mature not for explicit content in this volume, but because later books will include heavier themes. I don't know if I died or not, but the moment I regained my consciousness, I was already standing on a field full of grass and surrounded by trees. "W-what is that...?" A screen was floating in front of me. 「 Welcome, new adventurer! 」 "Adventur...rer?" But..... I'm so small! My body is the size of a 9 year old kid! And I don't even know what the hell happened to me. After I read some information on the screen, I was amazed that the world I was in was like a VRMMORPG. Magic exists and so does the level. "Huh?" When I look at my status, I'm not neither a mage that cast magic nor a swordsman that wields a sword, instead.... I'm a puppeteer! Will I survive in this new world despite knowing that I don't have a place to stay or food to eat? Note: This is more likely in Fantasy. Magic goes bruh broom brr. Also, there is some terms in this stories that is hard to understand like skills, ultimate skill, so read the prologue for that one. Dying from unknown means, a man suddenly finds himself reborn in another world as... a hare? Now, with a system straight out of an rpg or an isekai lightnovel, "Jack" has to survive being at the bottom of the food chain in his new home. Luckily he has a great mom and dad to help him out. Perhaps he will even find love in this life. During his journey the man will end up using his experience in his past life to help his new family in this one. Most conflicts arise from the young buck sticking his nose into places he shouldn't or allowing his... unique tastes lead him on his next hijinks. [Also anyone is free to comment. Rein, on the cusp on adulthood, found his family and town destroyed by forces beyond his understanding. Thus, the destiny within his heart called to him to seek out the cause of his calamity. So begins his journey as an advancer-- a title given to those who use magic to shape the world to their will. I've always been a fan of progression fantasy. However, I do feel disappointed by many of them, with too many characters that vanish into irrelevancy, sometimes arcs that are overly repetitive and a lack of characters ideals. In this story, I aim to instill more character ideals, motivations, and integrate said characters throughout the story, and ensure their interaction with the main character remain relevant to his heart. Perhaps, it's best to say I want the story to have a 'human spirit' that one could feel in old-school wuxia and action/adventure stories.
