Hadley Jefferson has fallen so far down the social ladder she cant see the top, even with her nerdy glasses. She used to be the best friend of Eleanor Rosevelt, the teenager guys wanted, and girls wanted to be. That was until Eleanor ditched her when she adopted her geeky look, and they've been enemies ever since.

So then Hadley dyes the tips of her hair pink, starts wearing combat boots, becomes famous for not being famous, and joins the group 'The Unfortunantes', a collection of eight highschool students that are so unpopular, their own siblings are afraid to be seen with them. They rebel against the 'Popular Crowd' with fearlessness and bravery, breaking the rules of highschool, and inventing a new set as they go along.

As Hadley faces the battleground known as eleventh grade, hearts get broken, tears are cried, and most of all, Hadley learns that no matter how different you are, being you is the prettiest thing you could be.
