Avery Clavens is an average, somewhat socially awkward woman who works as a research assistant in a New York library. At least that's what everyone who knows her believes. In actuality, Avery was caught doing something wrong in her youth by a secret government agency, and when faced with either jail time or being recruited by the agency, she found orange really wasn't her color.

After seven years of nothing too exciting happening in the office, she is forced to go undercover with an agent she's pretty sure speaks the English language as interpreted by Martians. It doesn't help that she feel drawn to said agent, or that there is a weird spark anytime the two of them touch.

Can the two of them stop arguing long enough to get their man? Avery doesn't know, but dealing with Agent Barnes definitely isn't in her job description.

In New York City, elite teens are going missing. The police and FBI have run out of leads and out of time, and so there is only one option left: to contract the CDA. It's the government's dirty little secret, an unorthodox organization of highly trained agents who are sent in when everyone else has failed. Four agents are sent to NYC: Mel Carmicheal, a knife-loving force of nature who could seduce a priest if she wanted to; Diego Delarosa, a perceptive and rational agent who can get anyone to trust him; Ian Sharpe, a quiet, insightful hitman who doesn't know exactly why he's there; and Asha Mannan, an organized, analytical agent who never gives up on a case. Changes in the very structure of the CDA during the middle of their assignment, however, have the agents scrambling with a new deadline and the looming threat of a suicide mission. Worst of all, their pasts and their secrets are beginning to catch up with them-- and they're all more connected than they know. Can they save the missing teenagers before their worlds come crashing down? *Told in chapters alternating between the past and the present* *This is the new & improved version of Identity- the old one has since been unpublished. However, this is not the final version and will most likely contain minor grammar mistakes/plot holes/etc.* Copyright © 2017 by Sloane Mackenzie All rights reserved. This is actually supposed to be the 5th installation of The Arrangement series but it's the third book I wrote. Feel free to read this while I write the actual 3rd part. Jordyn Kane-Evans is a 27 year old detective working with the Special Victims Unit. When she was younger she came across one of her mums old journals and when she found out about how she had been assaulted she knew right then that she wanted to put creeps like him behind bars. Whilst she had a successful career putting rapists away she wasn't very successful in the dating department. Even though what she did was quite noble, the women she dated couldn't handle it. They worried for her and couldn't take the long hours she had to work, sometimes working through the night. Her mothers worried for her, they just really wanted their Angel to settle down and find a good partner who could be there for her since she would need someone to emotionally support her considering how draining her job could be. Alex Carter, 28, is a prosecutor who takes on all rape cases and occassionally acts as a defence attorney especially when police brutality is involved. She has a deep hatred for cops. Especially Detective Kane-Evans and her sleazebag partner Detective Rivers. But she has no choice but to work with them especially in rape cases. Unfortunately, Detective Kane-Evans was the best in her field. Alex found her absolutely gorgeous with her long dark brunette hair which was almost black and her blue green eyes, too bad she was an asshole cop just like the rest of them. She hated it whenever she would try and flirt with her. It was totally unprofessional and completely uncalled for. No wonder why everyone calls cops pigs. But then something bad happens and she finds the only person who she can trust and who can protect her is Detective Kane-Evans. She soon finds out that maybe, just maybe not all cops are bad. Read at your own risk. This is a wlw book and has adult themes like sexual assault and murder.

Avery had lived alone in the Cabin her entire life; she just didn't know how long that was. Her only comfort: an enchanted library giving her a window to the world outside. Sapiens rule that world, using their superior bodies and magical skills to built elaborate cities and live forever. But outside the cities faunids, the savage cousins of sapiens, roam the wilderness following only instinct and the laws of nature. When a winged warrior literally falls out of the sky, Avery puts prejudice aside to save both their lives. She is thrust into a world ruled by magic and might and discovers that humans are on the brink of extinction. Though Avery tries to find her place in the world, she can't quite shake the demons of her past. Why was she trapped in the Cabin? Who cast the spell? Was it to protect her from the world, or to protect the world from her?
